Trail Running Series - Race 3 - Silvan Race

Going for a run through magnificent wilderness on a Sunday morning with a bunch of like minded souls sounds just about perfect – and that’s exactly what this series is all about!

The Trail Running Series is all about making trail running accessible to as many people as possible. You don’t need years of experience nor all the latest gear… all you need is a come-and-try-it attitude and a bit of fitness to get around the course. All races are designed to be fun, scenic and rewarding for all runners with a friendly event atmosphere that is truly welcoming of everyone.

The Silvan area of the Dandenongs is quite simply a magnificent part of the world – and this race is often the highlight of the series for many runners (despite being the hardest!).

You’ll run through mighty Mountain Ash forests that reach to the sky, you’ll run past lush tree ferns and gullies of verdant undergrowth all in the friendly company of the local birdlife, including crimson rosellas, kookaburras and the superb lyrebird.

Conducted in the HANDICAP FORMAT this will be a highlight race of the series.

WHERE: The Silvan Reservoir Park, Stonyford Rd, Dandenong Ranges
DISTANCES:

Long Course: 22km
Medium Course: 15km
Short Course: 7.3km

FORMAT: After the incredible success of last year’s race, the series finale at Silvan will again be conducted in a handicap format where all runners start at different times (according to your speed) so that we all FINISH AT THE SAME TIME for a real post-run celebration! This will be the 3rd year running with this format and for 2025 some tweaks will be made to each course to improve the format for all.
