Ride Up, Race Down… Enduro racing combines the fun, social side of mountain biking with friends and the adrenalin and excitement of downhill racing.

Organised by Mountain Bike Otago, The Urge 3 Peaks event will begin with a proloque on the Friday evening. The main day on Saturday will consist of three timed race runs down three of Dunedin’s most fun trails including the Pineapple track, Mt Cargill track and Signal hill. (Two of these are normally not allowed for mountain biking, so this is a very special opportunity to ride these tracks). Riders will make there own way between these stages in untimed sections called Liaisons.

To help keep the day stress free, riders can start each race run in their own time, either chasing their friends, or leaving a gap of choice.

The race runs will be 90% downhill with a few short climbs only. The trails are of intermediate level, so anyone with a reasonable level of skill and endurance should be able to complete this event comfortably.

While the climbs are not timed, there is an overall time limit to achieve the event. We will have a cut off time at the bottom of the second downhill and if riders are too late, we will have a shuttle available to bring you to the top of the final downhill. If you decide to take this option you will not get an overall ranking (but you will still get individual race run results).

At the end of each race run there will be a feed station with drink and food available. We ask that riders come prepared with enough spare parts and clothing. Please see equipment section here for details.
