BRISBANE—Entries are now open to participate in the ultimate weekend of off-road action set for Wildeco Camp at Ewen Maddock Dam in Landsborough on the Sunshine Coast in the final round of the annual Dirt Fest Multisport Festival series (16-17 April).

Considered an adventurer’s paradise, the Queensland Dirt Fest is designed for those who love all forms of off-road racing, such as Cross Triathlon, XC MTB and Trail Running, as well as events for the entire family. All Dirt Fest weekend’s include convenient accommodation and/or camping options with catering and celebration dinners on site.

The feature event of the last Dirt Fest weekend of the 2015/16 season is the Triathlon Queensland State Championships, which will serve as the final TreX qualifier to the 2016 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships set for Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa in the heart of the Snowy Mountains (NSW) in November – an event first for the Southern Hemisphere.

Victorian state champions, Ben Allen (AUS) and Jacqui Slack (GBR), will hope to  continue their winning form following the Australian Championships (NSW) on 27-28 February and close out the season with a clean sweep and overall series crown apiece. Standing in their way in the long course off-road triathlon (1500m swim, 30km mountain bike, 10km trail run) will be current series leader Brodie Gardner and 2014/15 national champion Max Neumann (QLD) and international superstar Renata Bucher (SUI) respectively.

Aside from the long course state champs, Dirt Fest also offers a sprint course tri (400m swim, 7.5km mountain bike, 3.3km trail run), as well as a 50km XC MTB, 8km Trail Run, along with the ever-popular Qld Dirt Master and Dirt Mistress titles, currently held by Damien Collins & Renata Bucher, which awards the athlete with the best cumulative times from the long course, sprint course and trail run.

“It’s such a beautiful venue up there on the Sunshine Coast with lush green rain forests, fern lined tracks and of course the recently developed MTB trails that had riders cheering with delight last year when they had an opportunity to ride some portions of the newly opened course,” said In2Adventure race director Simon Lazenby. “This year riders will get to experience the ‘full monty’ with an entire 10km course of flowing, undulating and awe-inspiring single track awaiting them.

“All in all, we can’t wait!”
