TreX to host FREE training clinics with Cross Triathlon power couple Ben Allen and Jacqui Slack

On the eve of the 2014 Australian Cross Triathlon Championships at the Crusoe Reservoir in Bendigo, Victoria (13-14 Dec.), off-road triathlon power couple and race ambassadors Ben Allen (AUS) and Jacqui Slack (GBR) will be hosting two free TreX training clinics on Thursday, 11th December, as well as a free university learning lab at event registration on Friday, 12th December.

Allen, 29, and Slack, 31, are reigning national champions with a combined 22 Xterra off-road triathlon titles between them. Most recently, Allen (14) took third at the 2014 Xterra World Championships in Maui, while Slack (8) finished inside the top 10 (ninth).

“In2Adventure are taking Off-Road Triathlon in Australia to a new level and we are honoured to have been named as ambassadors to help guide them through what’s going to be one of the biggest seasons of racing,” said Allen.

“We have raced in 26 different countries in one year and have seen and experienced the good and bad races. We are very excited to be part of the In2Adventure family and look forward to sharing our knowledge and experience to help provide the best racing adventures for everyone that toes the start line at one of their events this summer.”

The adult training clinic kicks off with a one-hour swim clinic on the spectacular Crusoe Reservoir, and includes tips on race tactics, open water skills and wetsuit removal. A two-hour pre-race course ride is next, followed by a short run off the bike inside the reservoir’s Box Ironbark forest. Allen and Slack will break down the course and discuss strategies over its technical sections before opening the floor to an informal Q&A over lunch.

Starting at 3.30pm, Allen and Slack will be conducting a one-hour kids training clinic covering all the basics to help set the future stars of tomorrow on the right track.

The following day, Allen and Slack will hold a free one-hour University learning lab at event registration starting at 5pm. The University will cover everything race participants will need to know about the 1500m swim/30km MTB/10km trail run course. Plus, preparations for race day and tips and tricks to help each athlete achieve their personal best.
With TreX offering both clinics and the university free of charge, bookings are essential and can be made by contacting event director Robyn Lazenby via email.
