Adventure with Purpose - Outback to Icecap

“Imagine a day spent photographing sub-Antarctic wild life whilst your protégée paddles the last leg of the day through the loose chunks of late summer ice in your 2-man kayak. You are exhausted and yet completely satiated. You are now gliding under the imposing yet magnificent 6,000ft high cliffs on your way back to the warmth of your private icebreaker. You are looking forward to the soothing steaming hot sauna that awaits you. Later this evening, you return to your deck chair and recount the adventures of the day. Perhaps you engage in a healthy debate with your fellow travelling mentors on the leadership topic of the day, write your entry in your diary or exchange stories with the Indigenous youth whilst sipping on 12 years malt scotch whiskey soaked in glacier ice that is a million years old”

Welcome to a typical day in the life changing initiative called ‘Outback to Icecap’..... Adventure with Purpose.

The ‘Leadership Group’ in partnership with ‘World Expeditions’ are proud to invite you aboard 'Outback to Icecap', the world’s first Indigenous Leadership Expedition in Antarctica and Argentina led by Australian adventurer Peter Bland, the first Australian to have walked to both the North and South Magnetic Poles.

After having led expeditions to the Arctic, Antarctica and Patagonian Fjords for 15 years, it is with great privilege that we now bring to you the journey of a lifetime where you will find yourself immersed in inspiration, purpose and above all exhilarating adventure.

Eight remarkable indigenous youths will be mentored by handpicked leaders to deliver a once in a lifetime experience, unique in its delivery and setting, which will guarantee an extraordinary path to them becoming future inspirational leaders and an example for others to follow. The young men and women have carefully been selected by Yalari- a not-for-profit organisation whose focus is to provide education and opportunities to youths from remote and rural Australia. They will be accompanied by their mentor, Founder of Yalari, Waverley Stanley.

You can become one of the selected Travelling Mentors - a unique opportunity to change someone's life.

Together we will embark on a journey of physical, mental and emotional growth as we set off to kayak, snow shoe, and ice climb an Antarctic mountain peak.

As a travelling mentor, you get to share your own personal story with the youths and other mentors. Your participation will be the catalyst for the formation of a life changing educational initiative offering unique experiential outdoor learning experiences for all involved; the eight handpicked candidates and of course YOU.

Your enrolment includes a donation towards the funding of the indigenous youth's yearlong education. This inaugural expedition will be captured for film, photography and literature for subsequent publication. The adventure kicks off this August camping in the Mt Macedon Ranges in Victoria, then tango dancing, horse riding and trekking in Argentina and kayaking, skiing and ice climbing in Antarctica from 15-31 December 2014. Together, we will also attempt a Guinness World Record.

The program is truly an open exchange and sharing of cultures.

The vision for 'Outback to Icecap' is to provide a once in a lifetime experience and to create a most extraordinary legacy for all involved.
