XTERRA Colorado Trail Series Kicks Off September 24

The inaugural XTERRA Golden Gate Canyon State Park Trail Run will kick off the XTERRA Colorado Trail Series on September 24th. This will be the first race of the season to count towards 2018 points.

“The course is stunning and beautiful,” said race director Arnold Soliman. “The single track runs through alpine meadows, pine forest, and golden aspens. It’s the perfect time of year to witness the fall colors and stunning views of the continental divide.”

The 20k run will follow the longest trail in the park over hills, open meadows, aspen groves and dense evergreens. Runners will gain about 1230 feet in elevation over the course of the race. The race begins at 7720 feet, so the extra challenge will test even the fittest athletes.

The 7k course will take runners through shaded groves of aspens, willows, and blue spruce trees with an elevation gain of about 980 feet.

Just like XTERRA Castle Rock, XTERRA Golden Gate Canyon was designed by Peter Maksimow. Maksimow is an elite mountain, trail, and ultra runner and member of the silver medal winning US team at the 2015 World Long Distance Mountain Championship.

Soliman stresses that runners of all levels are welcome at every race in the XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series.

‘Your desire to accomplish a journey out of the ordinary and a good pair of running shoes are all you need.”
