XTERRA Harbison Half Marathon and 5K
A little known fact about Columbia, South Carolina, is that it was the first city in America, as well as the first capital named for Christopher Columbus. Founded on March 26, 1786, Columbia serves as the state’s center of government, education and commerce with over 200 years of history.

The XTERRA Harbison Half Marathon and 5K Trail Runs take runners through Harbison State Park, a 2,177-acre environmental educational park nestled along the Broad River, just nine miles from downtown Columbia. Runners in both the half marathon and the 5K follow out-and-back routes that start and finish inside the park, just off Lost Creek Drive.

From there, runners follow a clockwise route around the park, running along its 16 miles of trails that wind through its hardwood and pine forests, crossing through streams and winding around along the river before bringing runners back around to the finish line.

“This year, we are most honored and proud to have Roy Shelley, with the Friends Of Harbison and the Palmetto TRAC Club, taking the lead on our course logistics,” said Victoria Seahorn, race director of the XTERRA Harbison Half & 5K. “I’m sure many of you local runners know Roy and appreciate how dedicated he is – not only to our sport, safety, and fitness – but to maintaining the beautiful trails at Harbison State Forest.”

The Hampton Inn At The Lake At Harbison has special discount rates for XTERRA athletes, so call early for reservations.
