XTERRA Whitewater Trail Run, July 8th

The U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, North Carolina plays host to the XTERRA Whitewater Trail Run, putting runners to the test on some of the country’s best trails.

On July 8th, runners will have the option of competing in a 3.9 mile or 7.3 mile trail run.

“This is great single and double track off-road running experience,” said race director, Jimmy Lawler.  “The race will start on the gravel road to create some space in the pack but will soon lead into the woods. You’ll encounter roots, rocks, bridges and your fair share of climbing on these gorgeous single track trails.”

Both the long and short courses will trek along the beautiful shores of the Cawtaba River.

“The course is magnificent and offers something for every runner truly wishing to ditch the city,” said Lawler.

Over 1,300 acres of maintained woodlands along the Catawba River provide the ideal location for this challenging trail race as well as a weekend getaway for the whole family.

“XTERRA Whitewater is a great opportunity to bring your family on a fantastic Fourth of July adventure,” said Lawler. “You can challenge yourself on some truly awesome trails and then spend the rest of the weekend kayaking, zip lining, and listening to live music at River Jam on Saturday night.”

The U.S. National Whitewater Center is home to the world’s largest man-made recirculating river. It also offers activities such as  whitewater rafting and kayaking, flatwater kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, deep water soloing, zip lines, and ropes courses.
