RIP DAVID DESANTIS, XTERRA WARRIOR,1961-2017

In 2015 Dave DeSantis was honored in Maui as the XTERRA Warrior award winner, bestowed annually to a member of the Tribe who had shown exemplary courage in the face of adversity, went above and beyond to help the greater community, or personified the “Live More” spirit.

Dave did all three of those things, he did them well, and he did them often.

He showed exemplary courage by never giving up during his lion-hearted, four-year fight with cancer.

He went above and beyond to help the greater community, literally, by helping to revitalize the city of Taunton, by raising more than $34,000 for the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and by inspiring everyone around him.

And he personified the “Live More” spirit by perpetuating the healthy, active, outdoors lifestyle, through his adventures, his friendships, and his zest for life.

On Monday, June 5, 2017, our hero died at home in Massachusetts surrounded by his loved ones.

He will be greatly missed by the XTERRA Tribe and beyond, but he will never be forgotten.

In his thank you note to the Tribe that helped him raise money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation, Dave said “I want to end with a short video that really sums up for me why I had this goal and what I hope makes you proud to have been a part of this campaign.”
