Aquaman Aus and In2Adventure announce partnership for the 2016 to 2018 triathlon seasons!

The 2016 ITU Cross-Triathlon World Championships are proud to announce their partnership with Aquaman Aus, one of Australia’s top suppliers of wetsuits. Aquaman were the first company to officially design triathlon specific wetsuits.

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) have a strict international set of rules around the use of wetsuits at the 2016 ITU Cross-Triathlon World Championships. For Elite, U23, and Junior U19 athletes swimming up to 1500m it is mandatory to use a wetsuit in temperatures 15.9 ºC and below and not permitted in temperatures 20 ºC and above. For temperatures between 15.9 ºC – 20 ºC wearing a wetsuit is optional.

For Age Group Athletes swimming up to 1500m it is mandatory to wear a wetsuit in temperatures 15.9 ºC and below and forbidden in temperatures 22 ºC and above.

The average water temperature in Lake Crackenback in November is around 20 ºC, this means that it will be borderline to wear a wetsuit for the elite and U23 category and more than likely optional for age group competitors. Technical officials will measure the temperature of the water before each race to confirm if wetsuits will be permitted for the race. The results from these tests will be posted on social media, the event notice board and announced via the public address system.

So if you’re looking for the ideal wetsuit, Aquaman have perfected easy to remove suits that are tailored specifically for triathletes. Made from a unique Metal Cell technology, Aquaman ensures water retention is minimum, promising the suits to fit like a ‘second skin’. Using their Flash System technology, Aquaman suits are able to be removed as fast as possible. The zipper opens the Velcro when it gets to the top while a special flap ensures the protection of the neck, guaranteeing no neck rashes.  During the World Championships it is crucial to have a wetsuit that is easy to remove as seconds can mean the difference between a podium finish or not.

Aquaman Aus will be featured in the ITU Cross-Triathlon World Championship’s Event Expo. Understanding that athletes travel long distances to compete in the World Championships, Aquaman Aus are offering competitors the opportunity to experience and then purchase a high quality wetsuit prior to the event, allowing for a lighter load when travelling to Australia.

At the 2016 ITU Cross-Triathlon World Championships competitors will have the opportunity to partake in a swim familiarisation prior to their race. At the swim familiarisation session, athletes are able to try the Aquaman suits in the water prior to purchasing.

The 2016 ITU World Championships and In2Adventure are honoured to be partnered with Aquaman Aus. We cannot wait to work alongside them for Australia’s first time hosting the ITU Cross-Triathlon World Championships.

Stay tuned for more details on the World Champs swim familiarisation session coming soon.
