Run for the Hills!! XTERRA Trail Run Nationals September 18th

The Paul Mitchell XTERRA Trail Run National Championship half-marathon returns to the mountain slopes of Snowbasin Resort near Ogden, Utah for the sixth straight year on September 18, 2016.

Since its debut in 2011, the course has received rave reviews from the runners.

“The course here is awesome, super flowy, climbs were sweet, downhills were awesome. It was sick!” said Travis Morrison, a 23-year-old from Schaumburg, Illinois after last year’s race. “It’s flowing coming down, and fun to hit the berms because you can hit the corners real hard and keep your momentum…you could fly.”

Runners of all ages and skill levels can experience what it feels like to “fly” on the trails at the Paul Mitchell XTERRA Trail Run National Championship, as there is no qualifying process.

“It literally couldn’t have been more perfect for running,” said last year’s women’s winner Liz Stephen. “It’s a well laid out course. It’s really hard in so many ways but it’s up and then it lets you rest, and it’s flowy and wonderful, and gorgeous.”

There will be three different courses to accommodate the various levels of runners. A 21-kilometer half-marathon course will serve as the national championship course, but there will also be a 10K and a 5K.

Every age-group winner from the 21K course will be awarded a free entry to race at the 2016 Paul Mitchell XTERRA Trail Run World Championship at Kualoa Ranch, Oahu, Hawaii.

The top five overall males and top five overall females from the 21K course will also receive prize money. Medals and other prizes will also be awarded to the top age-group runners from all three courses.

The Paul Mitchell XTERRA Trail Run Nationals will be held one day after the XTERRA Pan America / USA Championship off-road triathlon to create the ultimate XTERRA racing weekend. The two events will bring more than 1,000 of the nation’s very best amateur and professional triathletes and trail runners to Northern Utah to battle for the title of XTERRA National Champion.
